Fort Walton Beach firefighters trade sirens for coffee and conversation on Aug. 19
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – A cup of coffee will come with a chance to meet the people behind Fort Walton Beach’s fire service next week. Instead of sirens, emergency calls or formal presentations, the morning is being set aside for simple conversation.
Coffee with a Firefighter is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Beach Weekend Coffee in downtown Fort Walton Beach. The gathering is designed as an informal opportunity for residents to talk directly with local firefighters in a relaxed setting.
There will be no agenda and no speeches. People can stop in with questions, share thoughts about the community or simply introduce themselves and say hello over coffee.
The event gives residents a different way to interact with firefighters than they might normally experience. Rather than meeting during an emergency, visitors will have an hour to have casual, face-to-face conversations with members of the local fire service.
Organizers are keeping the format deliberately simple. Residents do not need to arrive with a particular issue or topic in mind. Questions are welcome, but so are everyday conversations and brief visits.
Beach Weekend Coffee will host the gathering at 170 Miracle Strip Parkway SE in downtown Fort Walton Beach.
