Destin burglary attempt ends fast as deputies catch two suspects inside Luke Avenue home

Destin, Florida – Deputies in eastern Okaloosa County had little time to waste when a report came in this evening about two suspicious males seen crawling through a window of a home on Luke Avenue in Destin.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Bravo East Deputies moved quickly after receiving the call. Once they arrived at the residence, they secured the area, set up a perimeter and made contact with both suspects while they were still inside the home.

The situation did not end quietly at first. One of the suspects tried to run out the back door, but soon surrendered. The second suspect retreated back inside the residence before deputies challenged him. He also eventually gave up.

Authorities said both suspects later confessed after being advised of their rights. They are now facing charges of Burglary to an Unoccupied Dwelling and Criminal Mischief.

The arrests marked another successful response for Bravo East Deputies, who have now caught and arrested burglars in the act three times since March 20, according to the sheriff’s office. The latest case adds to a short but notable streak of burglary calls in which deputies were able to arrive before the suspects got away.

The sheriff’s office described the incident with a pointed warning for would-be burglars, saying, “If you’re a burglar & Bravo East is on duty, your getaway plan probably needs work.”

No additional details were immediately released about the suspects, the amount of damage reported at the home, or whether anything was taken from the residence. The case remains tied to the Luke Avenue response in Destin, where a fast call from the public and a quick law enforcement response ended with two burglary suspects in custody.
