Destin library to host public Metta meditation session focused on compassion and mindfulness
Destin, Florida – Metta meditation will soon be introduced at the City of Destin’s Library as part of a public event focused on mindfulness and reflection. The session is scheduled for February 10, 2026, and will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. during the monthly meeting of the Emerald Coast Meditation Society.
The gathering will feature Alexandra Duffy, who will guide attendees through a Metta meditation practice. Metta, often described as loving-kindness meditation, is practiced around the world and centers on cultivating compassion, goodwill, and kindness toward oneself and others. The event is open to the public, and community members of all experience levels are welcome to attend.

Organizers say the session is designed to offer a calm and supportive environment within the library setting, allowing participants to learn about the practice while taking part in a guided meditation. No prior meditation experience is required.

Duffy brings a diverse professional background to the event, combining technical expertise with a focus on mindful leadership. She has more than ten years of experience working across aerospace, aviation, emergency management, and data center operations. Over the course of her career, she has managed programs for major organizations, including NASA, Voyager Space, the U.S. Marine Corps, and NATO.
