Fort Walton Beach shortens Friday service hours beginning August 3

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – A routine trip to Fort Walton Beach City Hall is about to look different, especially for residents who handle utility accounts in person. Beginning Monday, August 3, the city’s Customer Service office will shift to a schedule built around longer weekday hours and a shorter Friday window.

The change gives customers a 10-hour period to visit the office from Monday through Thursday. On those days, Customer Service will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday hours will run from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.

The revised timetable affects residents who visit City Hall to manage utility service matters, but an in-person trip is only one of several available options. The city offers multiple ways to pay water, sewer, garbage and other utility bills without entering the office.

Customers may pay online, enroll in autopay or make a payment by phone. A 24-hour self-service payment kiosk is also located in front of the Customer Service office, allowing residents to complete transactions outside regular business hours. Payments can also be placed in the dropbox in the City Hall parking lot.

Residents can review payment choices or apply for new water, sewer and garbage service through the city’s website. Information is available at https://www.fwb.org by selecting the “Pay Utility Bill” button. Customers can also go directly to https://www.fwb.org/customerservice.

The city is also reminding residents that utility providers can vary depending on the location of a home. Some addresses receive services from the City of Fort Walton Beach, while others are served by Okaloosa County.

Anyone uncertain about who provides water, sewer, garbage, recycling or other services can use the city’s “My Government Services” webpage. After opening the page, residents can enter their address in the search bar at the upper right to identify the agencies connected to their property.

The new office hours may be especially useful for customers who prefer to visit before the traditional workday begins. At the same time, anyone planning a Friday visit will need to arrive during the four-hour morning period before the office closes at 11 a.m.

Customers who still need help can call the Customer Service department at 850-833-9591. For water or sewer emergencies after normal office hours, residents should contact the Fort Walton Beach Police Dispatch office at 850-833-9546.

With extended hours across four days and several round-the-clock payment alternatives, residents will have different ways to manage their accounts once the schedule takes effect on August 3.
