Fort Walton Beach schedules next Community Code Compliance Sweep for November 13

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – The next Community Code Compliance Sweep in Fort Walton Beach will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025. This is part of the city’s ongoing “Cleanest City on the Emerald Coast” campaign. The event will start at 9 a.m. to noon. near the South Bayou area.
The goal of this neighborhood-wide sweep is to help people better understand the rules of the city and encourage them to follow them on their own before the city has to take official action. From Howell Drive east to Sleepy Oaks Road, code enforcement personnel will sweep through the region north of Beal Parkway and up to the bayou.
City officials say that these sweeps provide staff a chance to talk directly with residents, answer questions, and show them how simple efforts to keep up with property upkeep can make a huge difference in keeping Fort Walton Beach clean and safe. Officers will focus on teaching and working together, encouraging residents to fix problems on their own instead of getting tickets or fines.
The Code Enforcement team often sees cars that don’t work or are abandoned parked for a long time, grass or weeds that aren’t mowed, junk or trash mounds in yards, and trash cans that are left on the curb long after collection. Another common problem is building or fixing things in your home without permission.
The sweeps are part of an ongoing campaign that goes over communities every few weeks. Each round focuses on a different part of the city, making sure that all communities benefit from the initiative to reach out and make things better.
