Fort Walton Beach launches quick resurfacing push across five neighborhood streets this week
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Drivers across Fort Walton Beach may notice fresh pavement taking shape on several neighborhood streets this week as the city moves through a short round of resurfacing work.
The projects are spread across multiple locations, meaning residents in different parts of the city could see construction crews, equipment and temporary disruptions during daytime hours.
A contractor working for the City of Fort Walton Beach began resurfacing work Monday, Aug. 10, on Alabama Avenue near the apartment complex at Williams Street and Alabama Avenue, Baggett Place, Kepner Drive, Linstew Drive and a portion of Okaloosa Road.

On Kepner Drive, work covers the stretch between Okaloosa Road and Choctawhatchee Road. The Okaloosa Road project extends from Kepner Drive to Hollywood Boulevard.
The schedule is relatively short at each location. According to the city, resurfacing is expected to take about one to two days per site. Weather, however, could affect how quickly crews are able to finish.
Residents and drivers are being asked to help keep the work areas clear. Vehicles and other obstructions should be removed from the right-of-way and the immediate construction area between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., unless residents receive different instructions.
Keeping those spaces open will allow contractors to complete the resurfacing work without vehicles or other items blocking access to sections of roadway being repaired.
Because several streets are included in the project, activity may shift from one location to another as crews complete individual sections. Motorists traveling through the affected areas should be prepared for construction operations while the work continues.
The City of Fort Walton Beach said it appreciates residents’ patience and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the resurfacing.
