“Parenting Through Big Emotions” event in Fort Walton Beach offers practical tools, expert advice, and child care for overwhelmed parents

Okaloosa County, Florida – The Okaloosa County School District is organizing a unique event called “Parenting Through Big Emotions” to assist parents coping with the emotional difficulties of raising children. Fostering a healthier and more connected family atmosphere, this free workshop is meant to provide parents with efficient tools to assist their children control strong emotions.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Beachside Community Church located at 200 Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547. It seeks to alleviate typical parental concerns like frustration, overwhelm, and uncertainty in meeting their children’s emotional needs.

The seminar will be led by Erika Peterson, a renowned expert on child emotional control. Her intention is to present a simple, tested tool helping kids to properly control their emotions. The method emphasizes interpreting the messages underlying a child’s emotional manifestations, using techniques to assist them control their emotions, and creating a strategy to improve parent-child relationships without adding everyday stress.
