Affordable summer camp option in Destin offers themed weeks, swim days, and hands-on activities to keep kids active and engaged

Destin, Florida – A dynamic half-day camp program meant specifically for kids 5 to 12 will be available at the Destin Community Center this summer. Running from June 2 to August 1, 2025, the camp offers an affordable and interesting option for families living in and around Destin. Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the camp programs are planned with a weekly theme to inspire the interests and creativity of young campers.

For Destin residents, parents may register their kids for a weekly cost of $85; for non-residents, $115. Notably, there’s a “Lunch Bunch” hour from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM where children bring their own lunches, allowing them to refuel and socialize before the day ends. Limited spaces make pre-registration essential; parents should visit the community center’s website to reserve places early.

Starting with “Shark Week” from June 2-6, when campers will explore marine life enigmas and activities, the program schedule is varied and interesting. Shifting gears to “Sports Week,” the next week emphasizes physical fitness and teamwork via different activities and challenges. Following “Mad Scientist Week,” which promises a week of scientific marvels and experiments, the camp will be closed on June 19 for a planned vacation.

Ending in June, “Celebration Week” from June 23-27 likely will feature joyful events and crafts honoring other world cultures and celebrations. The camp takes a week-long vacation for the Fourth of July holiday and resumes on July 7 with “Career Week.” Through role-play and participatory learning, this subject allows youngsters to investigate various careers.

Running from July 14 to 18, “Music Week” gives campers the chance to interact with music in many ways, maybe picking up simple instruments or joining sing-alongs. With instructional talks in addition to some live displays, “Reptile Week” beginning July 21 is going to thrill people who like scaly animals. “Olympic Week” from July 28 to August 1 ends the summer session; campers may engage in Olympic spirit-inspired games.

Throughout the summer, each day promises structured playtime, snacks, and special swim days, for which a towel and swimsuit are required. Parents and guardians are invited to call the Destin Community Center at 850-654-5184 for more information or particular questions.
