Okaloosa County officials to host ribbon-cutting for revamped Ross Marler Park on March 27
Okaloosa County, Florida – Families in Okaloosa County and visitors to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach area have something exciting to look forward to—an all-new, state-of-the-art playground at Ross Marler Park. Officials have announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. to celebrate the transformation of the beloved park, located at 1275 Santa Rosa Boulevard on Okaloosa Island.
The $1.3 million investment replaces an aging playground structure with a modern, coastal-themed play space designed for children of all ages. The best part? The entire project was fully funded by tourism revenue, ensuring that both locals and visitors alike benefit from this dynamic upgrade.
“This is another great example of how tourism revenue should be spent in Okaloosa County,” said Okaloosa County Board Chairman Paul Mixon. “This investment will enhance enjoyment for both our local families and visiting guests.”

“This new space will be a safe place for children of all ages to play and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Okaloosa Island,” said District 2 Commissioner and Vice Chairman Carolyn Ketchel. “Having magnificent parks like these is a passion for me and I am pleased we are able to make these enhancements for everyone to enjoy.”
