Deputies forced to use taser after Destin man resists arrest in domestic violence case

Destin, Florida – A Destin man was taken into custody after a tense standoff with Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies following an alleged violent attack on a woman inside his home.

According to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the 53-year-old Alexander Ratikan of Sibert Avenue faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer without violence. Deputies were dispatched to his residence on March 1 after receiving a report of a violent altercation.

According to the victim, Ratikan shoved her into a hallway with enough force to cause her to hit her head and lose consciousness. When she came to, she claims he was standing over her with a knife, cutting her neck. Deputies arriving at the scene found lacerations on her neck, consistent with knife wounds.

Security footage from Ratikan’s bedroom reportedly captured a portion of the incident, showing the woman being forcefully grabbed and thrown into the hallway. Despite the physical evidence, Ratikan denies using a knife in the assault.

When deputies attempted to arrest him, Ratikan initially refused to leave his home, defying multiple order. The situation escalated until deputies were forced to use a taser to subdue him before placing him under arrest.

Ratikan remains in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the victim’s condition.
