Niceville High principal’s new FASSP role will focus on mentoring school leaders and advancing educational excellence in Northwest Florida

Okaloosa County, Florida – Charlie Marello, Principal of Niceville High School, has been named Northwest Florida Regional Director for the Florida Association of Secondary School Principals (FASSP), in a recent announcement marking a major advance for educational leadership in the area. This new position gives him more duties like supporting secondary education and promoting the professional growth of other school leaders around Northwest Florida.

By supporting and equipping school leaders, the FASSP, a branch of the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA), helps to improve the standard of education in the entire state. Founded in 1977, FASA intends to equip administrators with the necessary fundamental tools and resources to help students succeed. Marello’s new role is proof of his significant experience and dedication to educational leadership.

Having spent 15 years as a secondary school principal, Marello has a wide background in school administration. Now in his eighth year at Niceville High School, his leadership has been marked by a dedication to academic success and all-around student accomplishment.

His career path in educational leadership also includes time as principal at Destin Middle School and Emerald Coast Middle School in Walton County, experiences that have given him an in-depth understanding of the Florida educational landscape.
