New infrastructure project will close sections of Jefferson Place as crews replace aging water and sewer lines
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – The City of Fort Walton Beach is getting ready to start another important infrastructure project: a new water and sewer project will start on Monday, December 1. The work will be done on Jefferson Place, which is the next step in the community’s continuous efforts to upgrade and enhance its utility infrastructure.
At 16 Jefferson Place, crews will start working and then move north toward Jet Drive NW. The city says the work should take about three weeks, but the schedule could change depending on the weather. Officials made it clear that the repair is necessary to keep services reliable for people and businesses in the area.
There will be big changes to traffic during the whole project so that staff can work safely and quickly. The part of the road that goes from Hollywood Boulevard north to 16 Jefferson Place will be blocked to all traffic. Even if this corridor is closed, businesses along it will still be easy to get to from Hollywood Boulevard. This means that customers will still be able to get to shops and offices without interruption.
There will be a greater shutdown farther along the road. During the work, no vehicles will be able to go from 16 Jefferson Place to Jet Drive NW. In order to avoid delays, the city is advising people to plan ahead and take different routes.
All cars and other obstacles must be removed from the right-of-way every day between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., in addition to closing the roads. City officials said that keeping the area free is very important for making progress and keeping workers safe.

The City of Fort Walton Beach expressed gratitude to homeowners, visitors, and business owners in the area for their help as personnel will soon start with work on this renovation project. Officials stressed that the changes will improve long-term reliability and service quality, even though the current issues may be frustrating.
The city wants people who have questions or concerns about the project to get in touch with Nathan Gunn, the project’s representative, at 850-833-9613 or [email protected].
