Memorial Parkway resurfacing begins this week in Fort Walton Beach

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – This week, construction will begin on resurfacing Memorial Parkway. The work will cover the area from U.S. Highway 98 north to Hollywood Boulevard. The City will engage a contractor to do the work, and it should go swiftly once it starts.
City authorities say that the work will start around the middle of the week, as long as weather conditions remain favorable. The job is to mill and resurface the road, which should just take one to two days to finish.
Drivers who are going through the area should be ready for changes. There will be lane closures from time to time, and traffic management devices will be set up to help drivers safely go through the work zone. Flaggers will help direct cars where they need to go, and while there will be delays, officials stressed that the route would not be closed completely at this time.
As part of the job, temporary striping will also be put down at stop bars and crosswalks to make sure that junctions stay clearly designated until permanent striping can be put down. City officials told drivers to be careful when driving through the construction zone, saying that both workers and cars need to be careful when driving around the crews.
The City issued an apology in advance for any inconvenience the resurfacing may cause but underscored the importance of the project. Once the work is done, the enhancements will make this important route safer and smoother for everyone who uses it. Officials expressed appreciation for the community’s patience and cooperation while the upgrades are carried out.
