Local artists invited to showcase work in Okaloosa’s 2018 Artists’ Choice Show, submission deadline is August 15

Okaloosa County, Florida – Once again, Okaloosa Public Arts is inviting local artists from all across Okaloosa County to show off their work in the 2018 Artists’ Choice Show, a juried public exhibition. This annual show takes place in the Okaloosa County Administration Building in Shalimar. It’s a great chance for both new and veteran artists to get their work seen and win cash awards.

You can submit work for this year’s event until August 15, 2025, but no late entries will be accepted. The show is looking for original, family-friendly 2D art that fits with its goal of being community-focused. Digital art is also okay, as long as it is printed and framed professionally so it may be hung. But sculptures and other objects that stand on their own will not be accepted.

All of the chosen artwork will be on display for a whole year on three floors of the Administration Building. This is a highly used government location, so the public will be able to see everything. Artists can opt to sell their work, but they have to do it on their own and supply a similar item as a replacement if the original is sold.

You can drop off your artwork on September 3, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Administration Building at 1250 Eglin Parkway, Shalimar, FL 32579. That day is also when artists who have work on exhibit from the 2024 show must pick it up.

There will be a festive Opening Reception on September 5, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with the announcement of the winners starting at 4:00 p.m. There are cash prizes of $1,000 for Best in Show, as well as honors for first, second, and third place, as well as honorable mentions.

OPA
P.O. Box 669

Insurance coverage of up to $500 will be provided for each accepted piece, but artists must ensure all work is clean, exhibition-ready, and properly framed or gallery-wrapped with wire hangers. Sawtooth hangers are not allowed.
