Fort Walton Beach kicks off January bulky item pickup to help residents clear clutter

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – The city of Fort Walton Beach is getting ready for its semi-annual neighborhood pickup program in January. This will provide residents a chance to get rid of big household goods. The program allows homeowners an easy option to get rid of big things that won’t fit in regular trash cans.
City garbage collection staff will pick up large household goods including furniture, appliances, mattresses, and other such items all month long. The service is free for anybody who live in the city limits and is meant to assist neighborhoods keep clean and organized at the start of the year.
On the day that each family normally has yard garbage picked up, pickups will happen. City officials encourage residents to put things they don’t want to the curb ahead of time, making sure they are not too close to fire hydrants or above-ground utility boxes.
