Fort Walton Beach Police Department launches food drive to fight student hunger, donations accepted until end of month

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – The Fort Walton Beach Police Department is taking a stand against student hunger in the community with a targeted food drive aimed at helping those in need. From now until February 28th, local residents are encouraged to support local students who are uncertain about their next meal by bringing food contributions to the police station located at 7 Hollywood Boulevard NE.

Coordinated by the police department, the effort aims to gather a range of non-perishable food products essential for students who might otherwise go hungry. Essential items needed are peanut butter, trail mix, crackers, canned veggies, macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles, pop tarts, cereal, Ravioli, canned soup, popcorn, granola bars, and microwavable foods. These foods were selected since they provide students good nourishment and are simple to make.

For pick-ups or questions, Crime Scene Investigator Mercier may be reached at 850-833-9546. The food drive aims not just to stock local food pantries but also to make sure students may concentrate on their studies free from the burden of hunger.
