City of Destin seeks community input to build a parks master plan that reflects local priorities

Destin, Florida – The City of Destin is inviting residents to help shape the future of its parks and recreation system by participating in an upcoming public meeting. City officials are asking community members to voice their opinions, share ideas, and highlight priorities that will guide improvements to recreational facilities and programs across Destin.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the City Council Chambers located at 4200 Indian Bayou Trail. This session is part of the city’s effort to create a comprehensive Parks and Recreation System Master Plan, which aims to evaluate existing assets and determine what changes or additions are needed moving forward.

Residents are encouraged to weigh in on a variety of topics, such as which amenities need upgrades, what types of new facilities should be added, and what features may no longer be needed. The city hopes the feedback will help tailor future projects to better meet the evolving needs of the community.
Destin’s Parks and Recreation Department is especially focused on learning what matters most to locals, whether that means adding more walking trails, upgrading sports complexes, enhancing playgrounds, or creating new community programs.
