Governor DeSantis names experienced local Brad Embry as Okaloosa County’s next Clerk and Comptroller

Okaloosa County, Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis announced today that Brad Embry would be appointed Okaloosa County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. Embry, who will take on his new post on January 1, 2025, brings extensive experience in law enforcement and local government to the position.
Having first been Chief of Staff for the Okaloosa County Clerk’s office, Embry currently holds the titles of Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller-Elect. His experience is strong; years of employment as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and investigator work with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office define his background. His combination of government administration and law enforcement duties has given him special understanding of the operational as well as legal sides of the Clerk’s office.
A Florida native, Embry earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of West Florida and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Troy University. His educational experience has molded his attitude to public service, therefore giving him a good basis in both the strategic and pragmatic sides of handling public resources.
