Destin City Council candidates to share their platforms at public forum hosted by Chamber and ECAR

Destin, Florida – Destin residents have a unique opportunity to learn more about the candidates vying for a spot on the Destin City Council. A candidate forum, hosted jointly by the Destin Chamber of Commerce and the Emerald Coast Association of REALTORS® (ECAR), will take place on October 1st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Destin City Hall Annex. This event promises to be a comprehensive gathering providing a forum for the candidates to present their ideas and agendas to voters.

With five council seats up for grabs, the forum becomes increasingly important for candidates Rodney Braden, Dewey Destin, Teresa Hebert, Lance Johnson, Kevin Schmidt, John Stephens, and Sandy Trammell trying to convince the voters. Each candidate will have opening and closing remarks in the event framework, then questions prepared by the Destin Chamber and ECAR. Chamber Chairman of the Board Christian Carlee and ECAR’s Director of Government Affairs Melissa Garza will moderate these questions ensuring a structured but thorough conversation on several topics and challenges the city of Destin faces.

The forum will also be livestreamed via the official YouTube channel of the Destin Chamber. This will allow local residents unable to attend the event in person to participate from the comfort of their homes.

This event is very important since it allows voters to evaluate the candidates’ goals, their preparedness to handle local problems, and their general view on the direction Destin is headed. Direct candidate responses mixed with the question-and-answer session will create an interactive and participatory setting. A blind draw will decide the candidates’ responses’ order, therefore bringing spontaneity and fairness to the procedures.
