Fort Walton Beach sets early Independence Day closure for city offices and facilities
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Fort Walton Beach residents planning business with the city around Independence Day will need to make note of an early holiday closure.
City of Fort Walton Beach offices and facilities will be closed Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of Independence Day. The closure means many regular city services and public facilities will not be available that day as the community heads into the Fourth of July weekend.
There is one key exception. The Fort Walton Beach Golf Club will remain open and operate on its normal schedule.
Public safety services will continue without interruption. The Fort Walton Beach Police Department and Fire Department will keep normal staffing levels, and emergency response will not change during the holiday closure. Anyone facing an emergency should dial 911.

Several city facilities will also remain closed on Saturday, July 4. Those include the Fort Walton Beach Recreation Center, Heritage Park and Cultural Center, which includes the Indian Temple Mound Museum, and the Fort Walton Beach Public Library.
The city also reminded residents that after-hours water or sewer emergencies can still be reported during the closure. Anyone who needs to report one should call the Fort Walton Beach Police Department Communications Office at 850-833-9546.
The holiday schedule gives city employees time to observe Independence Day while keeping essential emergency services in place. Residents who need to visit a city office, use a city facility or handle routine city business should plan ahead before the Friday closure.
