Okaloosa County builds momentum as graduation rate reaches 91 percent

Okaloosa County, Florida – The Okaloosa County School District announced that its high school graduation rate went up a lot during the 2024–2025 academic year, hitting 91 percent. The new number is a substantial improvement above the 87.7 percent recorded the year before.

It also puts the district in line with Florida’s overall trend of higher graduation rates. District executives say the improvement shows that they have been working hard to keep students interested and encouraged until they finish their diplomas.

Officials said that a mix of student-centered strategies was a big part of the rise. More students are staying on track thanks to better support systems, more academic options, and ongoing attempts to keep them involved. This is especially true for students who may have problems outside of school. Schools in the district have been able to meet kids where they are and help them graduate by giving them a variety of options that fit their learning styles and career goals.

Superintendent Marcus Chambers said that the progress was due to everyone in the district working together.

“We are incredibly proud of our students and educators for this significant growth in Okaloosa County’s graduation rate,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers.

“Increasing from 87.7 percent to 91 percent in just one year reflects the hard work, perseverance, and commitment of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the strong partnerships we share with families and our community. While we celebrate this progress, we remain focused on ensuring every student graduates prepared for success beyond high school.”

The district sees the most recent outcomes as a starting point, not an end point. Plans are already in place to build on the momentum by adding programs that help students do better in school, get ready for college, and get ready for their careers. District authorities say they will keep working to find students who need extra help and get them connected with resources as soon as possible.

As the district looks to the future, authorities remain committed to making things better for all students. They argue that the most recent graduation rate is both a sign of progress and a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to make sure that every student is ready for success after high school.
