Destin residents invited to weigh in on future of downtown at Monday night workshop

Destin, Florida – The City of Destin is welcoming residents and business owners to City Hall Annex Council Chambers on Monday night for a discussion on the Town Center Master Plan. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. on June 9 and allows the community a chance to share their thoughts on a vision that could change Destin’s downtown for years to come.

The doors open at 5 p.m., which gives people time to look over a set of display boards made by SRS. These boards show some of the ideas and concepts that have been worked on for the Town Center Master Plan so far. Before the program, Community Development professionals will be around to answer questions and explain what each display means.

City officials will talk about the main parts of the Master Plan when the meeting starts. The plan itself lays out a long-term strategy, arranged in many phases, to improve Destin’s parks, public spaces, infrastructure, and facilities. City authorities want to get actual feedback about what people care about and what they want by including the community in the discussion. The feedback from this workshop will likely affect budget decisions and help shape capital improvement programs for many years to come.

The City wants everyone who cares about Destin’s future to stay for the workshop and help plan it. This is a one-of-a-kind chance for those who live in the area to help shape the future of their own downtown. Officials said that anyone with a disability who needs help getting to the event should call the City Clerk’s Office ahead of time to make sure everyone can attend.
