Saturday mornings in Fort Walton Beach will soon offer a new chance to learn Spanish
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Starting in early May, Fort Walton Beach residents will have a new way to spend their Saturday mornings, learning Spanish in a friendly, structured setting at the Fort Walton Beach Recreation Center.
The center will begin hosting a weekly Spanish class on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. each Saturday at the recreation center, located at 132 Jet Drive NW. The class is designed for people who want to build a stronger foundation in the language, whether they are starting fresh or hoping to sharpen skills they have not used in some time.
The program will cover several key parts of Spanish learning. Participants can expect lessons in basic grammar, everyday vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversation skills. The focus is not only on memorizing words, but also on helping students become more comfortable using the language in real situations.

The class adds another educational opportunity to the city’s recreation programming, giving residents a chance to learn something practical while connecting with others in the community. For some, Spanish may be useful for travel. For others, it may help at work, in daily conversations, or simply as a personal goal they have wanted to pursue.
Registration is now available. The cost is $50 per month, with a 20% discount offered to military veterans and city employees. Those interested in signing up can contact Fort Walton Beach Recreation Program Coordinator Pat Sherman by phone at 850-830-9581 or by email at [email protected].
Anyone who wants more details about the class content may contact instructor Luz Dominguez at [email protected].
With classes meeting for one hour each week, the new Saturday program gives learners a simple and steady way to begin building confidence in Spanish. For Fort Walton Beach residents looking to add a new skill this spring, the Recreation Center’s latest offering may be a timely place to start.
