National Night Out in Fort Walton doubles as a school supply drive for local families

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Local police officers in Fort Walton Beach are working together to bring the community together for a night of food, entertainment, and support for local students. The Fort Walton Beach Police Department and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office are working together to put on a National Night Out event with a “Back to School” theme on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The event will be held at Sylvania Heights First Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m.
Every year, people in the U.S. celebrate National Night Out to help police and communities get to know each other better. In Fort Walton Beach, that objective will be combined with a new focus on helping students get ready for the next academic year.
Attendees are being asked to bring new school supplies to donate. These will be gathered and given to families in need in the area. The endeavor shows how committed both agencies are to keeping the public safe and helping young people succeed.
Along with the donation drive, there will be a BBQ where everyone can have free hamburgers and hot dogs. There will also be other police enforcement displays on site, where locals can get a closer look at the cars and gear that officers use every day. To keep things fun, there will also be giveaways and other activities for families.
Officers from both agencies will be there to talk to residents, answer questions, and build stronger links in the community in a friendly, relaxed setting. The event is meant to be a place where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re passing by to eat, give supplies, or just shake hands with the people that keep your neighborhoods safe.
Community members are asked to mark their calendars and come to an event that honors working together, being kind, and getting ready for the new school year.
