Kids cheerleading program returns to Fort Walton Beach with February practices

Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Families in Fort Walton Beach can now sign up for the city’s kids basketball cheerleading program, which is a great way to get ready for the new season. People can sign up until January 30, 2026. Practices will commence in February and performances on game days will start in March.

The program is for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade and is a fun way to learn about cheerleading in a supportive, team-focused setting. The Fort Walton Beach Recreation Center will host basketball games for kids ages 11 to 13, and the kids will cheer during those games.

During games, cheerleaders will lead organized chants, cheers, and simple routines to get the crowd excited and cheer on the players.

City officials claim that the program is more about having fun, working together, and creating confidence than about competitiveness. It gives young people an opportunity to learn fundamental cheerleading abilities while being part of a structured youth sports program. The season fits well with the city’s young basketball schedule, so cheerleaders can be busy all spring.
