City offices and facilities in Fort Walton Beach to close for Memorial Day
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Fort Walton Beach residents planning errands around Memorial Day will need to mark a few schedule changes, as several city offices and public facilities will close for the holiday.
The City of Fort Walton Beach announced that its offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. The holiday closure will affect regular city operations, but essential public safety services will continue without interruption.
The Fort Walton Beach Police Department and Fire Department will maintain normal staffing levels, and emergency response services will not change during the holiday. Anyone facing an emergency should call 911.

City officials also noted that after-hours water or sewer emergencies should be reported through the Fort Walton Beach Police Department Communications Office by calling 850-833-9546. That number will remain an important point of contact while regular city offices are closed.
Not every city facility will follow the same holiday schedule. The Fort Walton Beach Golf Club will remain open and operate under its normal hours on Monday, May 25, giving residents and visitors another option for the long weekend.
Other facilities will close for a longer stretch. The Fort Walton Beach Recreation Center and the Fort Walton Beach Public Library will both be closed on Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25. Both facilities are also normally closed on Sundays, meaning visitors should plan around a three-day pause in access during the Memorial Day weekend.

Heritage Park and Cultural Center will follow a different schedule because it is normally closed on Mondays. Instead of observing the holiday closure on May 25, the facility will close on Friday, May 29, 2026.
The city’s Memorial Day schedule is meant to give employees time to observe the holiday while keeping emergency and critical response services in place. Residents who need city services are encouraged to plan ahead, especially if they normally visit the library, recreation center or other public facilities during the weekend.
