Sheriff’s Office and schools team up to make the holidays brighter for Okaloosa County children
Okaloosa County, Florida – For some children, the holiday season brings more worry than excitement. While many families prepare for celebrations and presents, others struggle to afford even basic necessities, leaving some students without new clothes, shoes, or gifts.
A familiar holiday tradition in Okaloosa County is returning to help change that. Local law enforcement officers and school officials are joining forces again, hoping community generosity will make the season brighter for children who need extra support.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Okaloosa County School District have announced the return of Operation Jingle Bells, an annual charitable initiative designed to provide holiday assistance to students and families facing financial hardship.

The program depends on contributions from school district employees, local businesses, community organizations, and residents willing to help children during the holiday season.
Rather than distributing assistance without knowing individual circumstances, Operation Jingle Bells uses a coordinated approach involving people who work directly with students throughout the school year.
School guidance counselors and school resource officers collaborate to identify children who may need additional help. They then develop holiday wish lists based on those students’ needs, allowing community members to provide more personalized assistance.
Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden said the initiative recognizes that holiday celebrations can look very different from one household to another.
“Here in Okaloosa County, we know some children face the holidays without the basics, including clothes or shoes, and of course without gifts of any kind,” said Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden.
“Operation Jingle Bells is an opportunity for our community to come together and ensure every child feels seen, supported, and cared for during the holiday season.”

School District Superintendent Marcus Chambers also highlighted the importance of community involvement, describing the partnership as an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for local students.
“Every student deserves to feel valued, supported, and cared for, especially during the holiday season,” said Superintendent Chambers. “Through Operation Jingle Bells, our community has an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and compassion shown by our community and the lasting impact they make for our students.”
Residents interested in contributing can participate in two ways: by sponsoring a child or making a financial donation to support the program.
Contributions can be submitted through the Operation Jingle Bells donation page.
Anyone seeking additional information about participation or the initiative can contact Catherine Card at [email protected] or the Sheriff’s Office at [email protected].
With the holiday season approaching, the two agencies are once again counting on community support to help ensure that local children facing difficult circumstances are not overlooked.
