Fort Walton Beach, Florida – A five-day library week is coming to Fort Walton Beach, giving residents a clear new schedule for borrowing books, using public resources and planning weekend visits.
Beginning Monday, August 3, 2026, the Fort Walton Beach Public Library will operate for 34 hours each week, with service available from Tuesday through Saturday.
Under the updated hours, the library will open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. On Saturdays, visitors will have access from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The building will remain closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The change creates a consistent opening time throughout the library’s five operating days. Weekday visitors will have a seven-hour window, while Saturday visitors will have six hours to use the facility.
Residents who regularly visit on Mondays should take note of the closure before making their next trip. The new timetable may also affect when materials can be borrowed, returned or accessed inside the library, making it important for visitors to plan around the Tuesday-through-Saturday schedule.
Saturday will continue to provide an option for residents who are unable to visit during the traditional workweek. However, the earlier 4 p.m. closing time means weekend visitors will need to arrive before the late afternoon.
The new hours take effect on August 3, but because the library will be closed that Monday, the first full day of service under the revised schedule will be Tuesday, August 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
