Okaloosa County sheriff closes administrative offices Friday but keeps deputies on duty during storm

Okaloosa County, Florida – Storm Isaias is disrupting normal operations across the area, and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is making changes to its schedule. However, while administrative offices will close, deputies will remain on duty to protect residents and respond to calls for assistance.

The temporary closure comes as the community prepares for the approaching storm. For residents, the message is straightforward: office operations may be interrupted, but emergency law enforcement services will continue without interruption.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office announced that all its administrative offices will be closed on Friday, October 9, because of weather conditions associated with Storm Isaias.

Despite the closure, the agency emphasized that deputies will continue working around the clock. Patrol operations will remain active throughout the storm, with officers available to assist residents and respond to situations requiring law enforcement attention.

The distinction is important for anyone planning to contact or visit the sheriff’s administrative offices on Friday. Although normal administrative operations will be suspended for the day, residents will still have access to emergency and non-emergency assistance by telephone.

Anyone experiencing an emergency should call 911 immediately.

For situations that do not require an emergency response, the sheriff’s office has instructed residents to call 850-651-7400.

The agency also encouraged the public to remain cautious and follow reliable information sources as the weather system moves through the area.

Residents can monitor official social media channels and Okaloosa County’s emergency information page for updates about the storm and local conditions.

While Friday’s administrative closure changes the sheriff’s office’s regular schedule, its deputies will continue patrolling communities and assisting residents throughout the severe weather event.
