City of Destin unveils upgraded MGO Connect platform built from user feedback

Destin, Florida – The City of Destin has launched MGO Connect, a new version of the MyGovernmentOnline customer interface that was made based on feedback from contractors and residents. The idea is simple: maintain all the services consumers currently use and make them easier to find, read, and complete. Users can log in to mgoconnect.org with the same email and password they have now. You may also find the accompanying mobile app by searching for “MGO Connect” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.

City workers advise contractors, homeowners, and those who use the portal a lot to try out the new system. The experience is the same, but the way you get around is easier. Things that used to take a lot of clicks are now right in front of you. There are clearer labels. Pages load with the information that consumers need first.

The biggest change is that you may now apply online. It’s easier to follow the course through each step because the forms flow in a clear order. An instructive landing page now greets customers with timely updates, so Destin can share important announcements inside the portal without further emails or calls.

Project management got a trim as well. A shorter “Projects” list shows all of your pending applications and permits that are currently being worked on. That means you won’t have to search through different screens as often and won’t have as many open tabs. Helpful maps and graphs provide users a quick look at where they are and what they’re doing.

The new “I Want To…” menu puts the most popular activities right in front of you. You may easily pay fees, print receipts or permits, and ask for inspections with just a few touches. The updated “Tasks List” indicates the current status of lengthier works, what has been done, and what still has to be done. The status is clear, and the next step is obvious.

It’s free and easy for contractors who are new to the platform to make an account. Go to www.mgoconnect.org, click “New Account” at the top of the page, and fill out the form that pops up. After you sign up, you can use the same login on both web and mobile.

Support is still available if users require it. You can email [email protected] with questions, or call the MGO Help Desk at 985-851-0760. Now that MGO Connect is available, Destin’s permitting and customer service should be easier to understand, more helpful, and easier to complete from start to finish.
