Georgia man arrested in Okaloosa County for allegedly smuggling two Mexican nationals

Okaloosa County, Florida – In an incident early Friday morning, a Georgia man was arrested by Okaloosa County deputies for allegedly smuggling two Mexican nationals into Crestview, Florida. Michael Frost, 62, from Columbus, Georgia, faces charges of human smuggling after being apprehended in a traffic stop on State Road 85.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reported that around 12:30 a.m., deputies noticed a white pickup truck with Georgia license plates heading north in the southbound lanes near Airport Road. The vehicle, driven by Frost, was immediately pulled over by law enforcement.

During the stop, deputies discovered two male passengers who only possessed Mexican IDs and could not communicate in English. According to the sheriff’s office, Frost confessed to being paid $100 by a “friend” to transport the men into Crestview, a small city in the Florida Panhandle.

Further investigation revealed that Frost was carrying nearly $2,500 in cash, including several crisp $100 bills, raising suspicions about the nature of his activities and possible financial incentives involved in the smuggling operation.

Currently held in Okaloosa County Jail, Frost’s bond has been set at $10,000. He faces two counts of smuggling illegal individuals into the state, with the investigation still ongoing.
