City payment services will pause for 19 hours during Fort Walton Beach fiscal year closeout
Fort Walton Beach, Florida – Fort Walton Beach customers who need to make a payment or handle an account matter at the end of September will have a shorter window than usual. The city’s Customer Service office will close at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 30, as staff turn their attention to wrapping up fiscal year 2026.
The closure will affect more than the front counter. Beginning at 12 p.m. that day, every city payment option will temporarily go offline, meaning customers will not be able to pay online, in person, by phone or through a kiosk.
The shutdown is being scheduled so employees can process year-end work and complete the city’s fiscal year closeout.

Customers with business to handle on Sept. 30 should also be aware of another restriction. The city will not accept any new service requests or account termination requests at any point that day.
Normal Customer Service operations are expected to resume at 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. Payment systems are also expected to become available again when regular operations resume.
The timing makes Sept. 30 an important date for anyone who normally waits until the end of the month to make a payment or request changes to an account. Customers who need to complete those transactions should plan around the noon cutoff or handle them before Sept. 30, particularly if their request involves starting or ending service.
The temporary closure is limited to the fiscal year closeout period, with the city returning to its regular schedule the following morning.
Fort Walton Beach officials said they appreciate customers’ understanding and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption.
