Destin launches Park and Play system to modernize parking across Harbor and Beach Districts

Destin, Florida – The City of Destin has put in place a new paid parking system that is meant to make visits to its busiest locations easier and faster. The program, known as Destin Park & Play, officially began on Sunday, March 1, 2026, bringing a modern approach to parking in the Harbor and Beach Districts.

The tariffs are still the same, but the way drivers pay has changed. Visitors to the Beach Parking District will still have to pay $20 for four hours, and parking in the Harbor Parking District will still cost $15 per day. But residents of Destin can still park for free in City-managed locations if they have a current Resident Parking Pass.

The largest change is in how people pay. Destin Park & Play is a mobile-friendly service that lets people start a parking session simply scanning a QR code or sending a text message. City officials claim that not having to download an app will make the procedure faster and easier for both residents and visitors. The idea is simple: make transactions easier, eliminate friction, and make parking more available in busy areas.

The City has teamed up with LAZ Parking, a well-known business that manages municipal parking around the country, to run the system. Destin wants to update its parking operations while keeping prices the same through this partnership.

The technology that comes from this agreement will also be used to collect boat launch fees at Joe’s Bayou Boat Launch. The launch charge is still $25, but the new system makes it possible to pay on-site, which is easier for boaters and helps the City run the facility more easily.

People who live inside the city limits of Destin are invited to get their free Resident Parking Pass. You can get passes at City Hall, the Destin Community Center, or by signing up online on the City’s website. People who want to get passes must show their driver’s license and vehicle registration. Each household can only get two passes.

City officials say that as the initiative moves forward, they will give more updates, answers to common questions, and reminders. For now, Destin Park & Play is a definite move toward upgrading parking while preserving the same fees.
