Shalimar Library & Thrift Shop donates $3,000 to support students at local elementary school

Okaloosa County, Florida – On Thursday, February 12, school leaders and community members came together at Shalimar Elementary School to make a meaningful donation. The Shalimar Library & Thrift Shop gave the school a $3,000 check during a short presentation. The money will be used to improve learning tools and help kids in real ways.

Along with Shalimar Mayor Mark Franks, Principal Amy Klugh, and other school administrators, members of the Shalimar Library Board of Directors were at the presentation. The school library will get $2,000 of the total contribution, and the principal can spend the other $1,000 to buy classroom supplies for students who need them the most.

Town leaders said the act was more than just giving money. Mayor Franks talked about how the library has been a part of the community for a long time and how it gives local families a chance to be curious, find new things, and have new opportunities. He pointed out that putting money into young learners now will help define the town’s future.

Principal Klugh expressed gratitude for the continued encouragement shown by the Shalimar community.

“Thanks to our Shalimar community and leadership, your generous support of your library fuels learning for kids,” said Klugh. “With these funds, we will be able to support purchasing student supplies for those in need. We will also use the funds to purchase needed materials in our library.”

District leadership also recognized the importance of the partnership.

Superintendent Marcus Chambers said the contribution highlights the close connection between local organizations and neighborhood schools.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Shalimar Library & Thrift Shop for their continued commitment to our students. Community partnerships like this strengthen our schools and ensure our children have access to the resources they need to succeed. This donation reflects the strong connection between our schools and the Shalimar community.”
