The end of January into February is usually our coldest time of the year. However, the days can be very nice and the fishing can catch fire within a blink of an eye.
In the bay—the trout, redfish, black drum, flounder, white trout and some of the best sheepshead fishing of the year. Along the coast and off the piers—winter Bonita can be found cruising just off the shoreline and sandbars early mornings.
Surf, pier and jetty fishing will produce some pompano, whiting, redfish and sheepshead. Bottom fisherman will enjoy catching amberjack, scamp, red grouper, triggerfish and Mingo snapper.
Remember—fish responsibly and always check the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission site (myfwc.com) for the most updated rules and regulations on your targeted species.
