The Dial Press
If you follow any #Bookstagram accounts on social media or have visited a bookstore in the last couple months, you have probably seen the lovely blue cover of Dear Edward. I am here to tell you that it lives up to the hype. This heartbreaking story is about 13-year old Edward, the sole survivor of a plane crash that takes his family, as well as the loved ones of many.
In every other chapter, the reader experiences Edward’s grief as he copes with the aftermath of the plane crash. He goes to therapy, he builds a new life with new relationships, and he reads hundreds and hundreds of letters addressed to him, the boy who lived. And every other chapter, the reader is back on the tragic flight getting to know one of the many characters who were lost along with Edward’s family. This story has so much heart and emotion. Napolitano writes beautifully and handles heavy topics with such tenderness.
