Pet of the Issue – Starbuck

Submitted by Carol Marraccini-Otto and Ryan Otto

Millbrae, California residents Carol and Ryan—frequent visitors to the area and part of Editor Manson’s extended family—adopted Starbuck when he was 12 years old from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco.

“He was found as a stray on the streets of San Jose,” says Ryan. “Starbuck is now 18 years young and living the dream. He is a delightfully grumpy, cantankerous old man who is named after Captain Ahab’s Lieutenant in Moby Dick, not the coffee chain.”

Starbuck is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix. He briefly modeled for a magazine photo shoot before giving up his life of glitz and glamour to retire away from the public eye. Interests include sleeping, sunbathing, and not putting up with nonsense from his furry siblings (also Muttville alumni).

Starbuck enjoys some weekend day drinking at the local watering hole.
Starbuck has a serious weakness for dinosaurs.
The guest of honor, today and every day.
