Local Students Compete in County Archery Tournament

Over 300 archers shot a combined total of 9,000 arrows in an archery tournament recently held at Meigs Middle School. Five elementary and three middle schools participated in the first of four tournaments for the 2017-18 season.


Meigs Middle School took first place in the middle school team division with a score of 2,914. Their top archers were Aubrey Scamahorn (272) and Kris Ireland (250). Liza Jackson School took second place with a team score or 2,814. Their top archers were Ashley Bozeman (244) and Aris Braxton (249).


Shalimar Elementary School took first place in the elementary school division with a score of 2,494. Their top archers were Alynah Minardo (249) and JT Grace (222). Elliott Point Elementary took second place with a team score of 2135. Top archers were Altin Aripova (197) and Talan Cooley (196).


Destin Middle School made its first official appearance, bringing a 5th grade team and a middle school team. Liza Jackson added two teams to their previous year’s roster, bringing two elementary and two middle school teams. Shalimar Elementary School brought three teams to the line.


Bluewater Elementary and Elliott Point Elementary each brought two teams, and Meigs Middle School, Pryor Middle School and Longwood Elementary each had one team.


The next local tournament will be held Dec. 2 at Ron Crawford Recreation Center in Fort Walton Beach, hosted by Liza Jackson.  For more information, visit NASPschools.com.
