The real estate market is as cyclical as the seasons, and as the roads clear up in response to visitors returning back home, we at Century 21 Blue Marlin mark the end of summer along Florida’s Emerald Coast.
Buyers and sellers with children typically do not want to uproot their family in the middle of the school year and will wait until its conclusion so they have more free time for moving and the chance for a fresh start once the next school year begins.
Studies have shown the busiest moving times of the year occur during the summer, with June being one of the busiest months and July 31 the single busiest day, meaning people are likely shopping the housing market at the end of the school year and as the summer draws to a close.
This year to date, the Destin area saw 706 residential sales, including 48 properties that sold at over $1,000,000.
The caliber of homes being sold in and around our area speaks highly to the strength of our market. In fact, the highest sale year to date was a beautiful Gulf front home in Destiny by the Sea, one of Destin’s premier private neighborhoods. It sold for $3,650,000. The 3,887-square-foot home was built in 2012 with five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms.
And there’s more to come. Currently, there are 206 properties pending sale in Destin, and more than triple that number of properties for sale—640.
The area’s highest priced home is currently an $8,800,000 estate on Holiday Isle in Destin. This gorgeous estate was just built in 2016 and boasts 9,000 square feet of living space, nine bedrooms and 10 and a half bathrooms. Did we mention this beauty sits Gulf front?
