Pet of the Issue – Chip

Submitted by Samantha Lambert

“We adopted Chip from the Virginia Beach SPCA in December 2011,” says Lambert. “We had put down our beloved Black Lab mix Chippi four months before due to cancer. I saw Chip at a pet store opening and asked his name. When the SPCA volunteer said Chip, I almost fainted. It was a sign from Chippi that we needed to take care of this dog.”
The family vet thinks Chip is a mix of Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Lab. He loves laying outside in the Florida sun and likes to play with his cat brothers Mirlo and Buddy.
Chip Lambert attempts to camouflage himself.
When Lambert first met Chip, the SPCA estimated the dog was about three and only weighed 69 pounds. “He would not bark and was very apprehensive around males. Needless to say, he has become a beloved member of our family and weighs 95 pounds now, barks, and is such a friendly guy.”
