Cover Artist Maxine Orange

We’re thrilled to have Maxine Orange back on our cover this issue. “Beach Girl” is a mixed media creation—acrylic paint on canvas with grout and hemp twine.

“I’ve been getting a little tired of mermaids,” says Orange. “So I just thought to paint a series of real girls on the beach. It was also a personal challenge to myself as far as ‘people painting’ goes.”

These days, Orange is adding lots of different types of texture to her artwork. You can see more of her work at Emerald Coast Gallery in the McGuire’s Plaza in Destin and online at maxineorange.com.

“I’m hoping to participate in some of the local art shows this year, which I have not really done before,” she says. “I’m looking forward to exploring that new avenue for selling my art.”

The artist is also teaching “some fun painting classes” at The Market Shops in Sandestin this summer. Contact Orange at maxineorange@gmail.com for more info and to set up your own private group event.

Spread the love
