Join in the celebration of LuLu’s first year at their 1st Anniversary Party Bay Bash Saturday, June 11. Revel in a family day filled with non-stop fun, food, kids’ activities and back-to-back live music out on the sandy beach beginning at 11 a.m. with the Lamont Landers Band, Hotel Oscar, Amanda Shaw and Glen David Andrews performing.
Boat in, float in, paddle in, or come by land. With two-to-three-foot shallow waters behind LuLu’s, the smaller the boat the better. Larger boats can anchor up a little farther out. LuLu’s will be running a complimentary water shuttle service to boat passengers throughout the day. The first 50 boats, floats or paddle boarders to anchor in will receive FREE 1st Anniversary Party Bay Bash t-shirts.
Come meet Crazy Sista, restaurateur and author Lucy Buffett, who will be on hand from 1 to 3 p.m. signing her newly updated cookbook, LuLu’s Kitchen, A Taste of the Gulf Coast Good Life. Along with birthday cake being served, there will be plenty of activities to keep the kids busy, not to mention good food and bars inside and outside for the adults.
A LOOK BACK OVER A GREAT FIRST YEAR
In one short year, LuLu’s has garnered a great reputation for family-friendly atmosphere, great food, welcoming crew members, beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay views, live music seven days a week, and a white sandy beach making for the ideal kids’ fix to keep the little ones busy with its Fountain of Youth, pails, shovels, hula hoops and Jellyfish Jumper.
A gift shop has fun and fashionable souvenirs and features Lucy’s Crazy Sista brands which include clothing, Lucy’s cookbook, Bloody Mary mix, dried seasonings, hot sauces and more.
The award-winning cuisine at LuLu’s Destin features favorites from Lucy’s LuLu’s Kitchen cookbook. Along with locally sourced fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico, a few of their signature dishes include gumbo; fried green tomatoes; the Crazy Sista version of Cheeseburger in Paradise with pimento cheese, fried green tomato and bacon; and Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding. Exclusive to LuLu’s is their allergy menu, with the manager personally taking guests’ orders and following through in a separate preparation and kitchen area.
During LuLu’s first year of operation in Destin, they served 22,000 of their famous Cheeseburgers in Paradise, 30,000 pounds of Alabama Gulf shrimp and over 80,000 pounds of French fries. And they employed over 542 crew members.
SPREADING THE GUMBO LOVE
One of Lucy Buffett’s favorite sayings is “Spreading the Gumbo Love.”
“We are so excited about our first successful year in Destin and want to spread the Gumbo Love with everyone at our 1st Anniversary Party Bay Bash,” says Lucy. “Particularly area boaters and paddle boarders. Much like our annual Gumbo Key boat event in Orange Beach, it will be a great day to come in by boat, floats, kayaks or paddleboards to be part of the festivities. If not by sea, then park in our hundreds of convenient parking spaces and join us by land. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 11!”
LuLu’s is located in Destin at the foot of the Mid-Bay Bridge next to Legendary Marina. For more information, visit lulubuffett.com/destin or their Facebook page.
