Art Events - ADSO Saves the Earth, Connie Dismukes and More

THROUGH JULY 22. SUMMER ROTATION AT THE FOSTER GALLERY, GRAND BOULEVARD AT SANDESTIN

The latest group of artists to make the cut includes Melody Bogle, Cheryl Burgess, Carol Ann Cain, Jacques Camp, Marscha Cavaliere, Donnelle Clark, Skip Deems, Judy Dewar, Joyful Enriquez, Capri Boyle Jones, Linda Kernick, Rosalyn O’Grady, William Polley, Lesha Porche, Mary Redmann, Kathleen Schumacher, Jenna Varney, and Krista Vind. Selected by jury, all artists are members of the Cultural Arts Alliance and each will exhibit six to 10 pieces of work in their own section of the gallery. Also on display—a special exhibit by Billy the Artist.

 

THROUGH JULY 27. ARTS AND DESIGN SOCIETY’S (ADSO) “SAVE THE EARTH/ORGNANIC” SHOW AT THE ART CENTER GALLERY, FORT WALTON BEACH

ADSO features works inspired by saving and/or destroying the environment.

 

THROUGH JULY 31. ARLENE NEWSOME EXHIBIT AT COASTAL BRANCH LIBRARY, SANTA ROSA BEACH

The artist's photographs and glass and resin creations have been exhibited at Quincy's Art and Things in Seaside, Affinity Boutique in Gulf Place, and Drift in Inlet Beach. Ms. Newsome’s work is also exhibited at the Mountain Made Gallery in Franklin, North Carolina. She was the 2013 winner of the People’s Choice Award at the juried art show "A Plus Arts" for her watercolor painting of an 800-year-old Italian villa, and is also an active member of the Women's Art Network and the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. 

Library hours are 9 AM-6 PM Mondays, and 9 AM-5 PM Tuesday through Saturday.

 

THROUGH JULY 31. ADSO WINDOW GALLERY DISPLAY AT THE ART CENTER GALLERY, FORT WALTON BEACH

The July spotlight is on the work of award-winning Chique Brooks, who specializes in portraits and florals, aiming to express elegance, warmth, wonder, whimsy and serenity in her work. Discover more at akachique.com.

 

JULY 18. ADSO PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP AT THE ART CENTER GALLERY, FORT WALTON BEACH

All photographers, from beginners to professionals, are welcome to meet up from 6 to 8 PM. The group’s mission is “to encourage fellowship and to provide a place where photographers may discuss and exhibit their work.” Call Jim at 850-499-6699 for more info.

 

JULY 25. ADSO MONTHLY LUNCHEON AT THE ART CENTER GALLERY, FORT WALTON BEACH

Connie Dismukes’ topic of discussion is “Come Closer to Sea Art on Glass.” The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $12 if you make your reservations by Monday, July 23—after that, it’s $15. Email adsorsvp@gmail.com or call 850-244-1271. 

Ms. Dismukes’ original art consists of prolific abstract, coastal and inspirational pieces. Her “glass expression” technique involves resin, oils, custom inks, incandescent, precious metals, and chemical effects on glass. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis and a world traveler.
