The Destin Library hosts a Summer Wellness Event for Kids Thursday, June 7, at 3 PM, featuring author, presenter, entrepreneur and public health advocate Christine Audler. This event is focused at children, young adults, and their parents and is free and open to the public. The presentation will include interactive activities, readings, book signings and Christine’s mascot Lou.
Ms. Audler founded her nonprofit organization in 2012 at the urging of a friend who encouraged her to turn her passion for public health into a career. One of the outcomes of her passion was the book , which centers on a young girl battling obesity.
Ms. Audler’s passion for health care began when she was 15 years old and worked after school at Curves for Women in New Orleans and then later on at Ochsner's Elmwood Fitness Center in Kenner, Louisiana. Because of her experiences at gyms, the meaning of the word "obese" shifted for her.
Today through readings of her book and directing healthy living seminars at schools and local community events, Ms. Audler is lending her passion and expertise to changing the obesity epidemic in America.
