Special Call to Artists and Friends of Destin Librarian Jurate Burns. On Tuesday, May 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Destin Library is hosting a retirement ceremony for longtime honcho Jurate Burns, who has brought so much not only to the Destin community, but to the art community as well.

During her tenure at the library, Ms. Burns has created a gallery and hosted art shows for many artists, bringing art and the community together. Under her aegis, the library itself, built during Burns’ tenure, has featured art in an outstanding setting, notably the murals in the Children’s Reading Room.

Kim Heartsong, who will be displaying her art in the Destin Library during May, is urging all who have had the opportunity to display their art in the library’s gallery, as well as those who have enjoyed that art, to attend the retirement ceremony to honor Ms. Burns for her outstanding achievements.
