New York food writer Ed Levine has been called “the missionary of the delicious,” and the title fits. His tastes are broad, from fast food burgers to pizza and obscure ethnic delicacies to cutting-edge gastronomy. His online blog/forum “Serious Eats” was a pacesetter, and Serious Eater is the chronicle of its rise (and near fall), and Levine’s efforts to secure investors and an eventual buyer.
Interspersed with nerve-wracking stories of deals gone sour (I lost count) are recipes and thumbnail sketches of Ed’s favorite restaurants and memorable dishes. Have your favorite pizzeria on speed-dial when you read this. Trust me.

The shit hits the fan, and once again Jonathan Grave and his team hit back. Hard. Mr. Gilstrap’s series keeps getting better and better, and you best hold off on reading the excerpt from the next installment until it gets closer to get-a-copy-in-your-hands time.
