A Star Is Born

Directed by Bradley Cooper

In Theaters

In this third remake of the A Star is Born, aspiring singer Ally (Lady Gaga) finds fame and love with seasoned performer Jackson “Jack” Maine (Bradley Cooper). Jack has his own personal demons that cause his career to spiral downward.

Cooper is excellent as Maine, showcasing alcoholism and drug addiction in a very real manner. Gaga shows what it’s like to be a dreamer who has been told that her looks would never make her a singer and is suddenly caught in the music industry whirlwind. She also does a great job embodying what it’s like to love someone with addictions.

This is a pretty good movie despite a few boring moments. But those are easy to ignore in the grand scheme of A Star Is Born.
