One of my friends in junior high turned me on to KISS when I was 14 years old, and I bought Alive! I still have the original copy.
Their music was totally different than anything that was being played on the radio at that time. They were like Marvel Comic superheroes. The damned bass player spit blood and breathed fire, for crying out loud! It was then and there that I decided that’s what I wanted to do for a living, and I made good on it.
They were my gateway drug to bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Aerosmith, etc. I still listen to that album to this day. Every song on this double-live monstrosity kicks ass!
