The annual South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival donated $15,000 to Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) to support 15 children’s charities in Northwest Florida. The charity wine festival, founded by Chan Cox of Wine World, designates DCWAF as the sole recipient of the net proceeds of the event. More than 4,000 people attended the 2017 festival.
“Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation was honored to be the benefiting charity of South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival,” said DCWAF President John Russell. “Our partnership with South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival has grown over the past years from a business relationship to something resembling a family enterprise.
“The result is a seamless coming together of two great wine events on the same weekend to benefit the children of Northwest Florida. It is an honor and a privilege to work side by side to make a difference for kids who need so much.”
The Destin Charity Wine Auction was held during the festival and raised $2.7 million dollars for the charitable organizations to address hunger, homelessness, abuse, and physical and mental disorders for thousands of children in Northwest Florida communities.
The 2017 festival took place this April in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin. More than 800 wines, poured by dozens of noted national and international wine celebrities, highlighted the festival. The Savor South Walton Culinary Village showcased local chefs and presented sold out tasting seminars.
The 2018 South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival takes place April 26-29.
