Okaloosa RevFest—held Saturday, April 8, at KC’s Sandbar in Downtown Fort Walton Beach—is the kind of event that just gives you the warm fuzzies. In its fifth year, it showed no signs of slowing down.

The weather played along, making for a slightly cool spring day if you kept to the shady spots. The jasmine was in bloom behind one of the stages, and if you don’t love the smell of jasmine I will question if you are human.

There were new additions like live painting, an Armored Amplification booth with a slew of tester guitars and amps, and the technical gurus of Receptor Sound and Lighting who kept two stages moving without a hitch. Returning traditions like memorable jams, guest musicians sitting in, and the kids’ corner kept the spirit of communal creativity kicking.

That sense of community is likely one of my favorite things of the day. It’s a wonderful chance to see so much of our local talent (not-so-local, too), give hugs, and catch up with friendly faces.

The crowd rolled in early for RevFest and stayed late. Here’s to all those music lovers returning for the event next year. Hope to see you in 2018.

Spread the love
